Common Questions and Answers

About the business:

Do you own a brick-and-mortar retail store?

Nope.  I spend my time in my quilting studio and my money in other people’s quilt stores.

What if I am not in your area? Can I send my quilt top and back to you for quilting?

Absolutely. Lots of my customers do. We just need a “consulting session” so it turns out like you want but we can do that virtually over the phone or internet.

What are your shipping charges?

I get the best cost for shipping and pass that along to you.

About the long arm quilting:

What choices do I have for the quilting stitch pattern?

Tons! Tell me what you are envisioning and I give you multiple options. I have hundreds of designs. And there are thousands more available on the internet for instant download.

How long will it take to get my completed quilt?

My standard turnaround time is 2-4 weeks. It depends on the season and the current quilting queue. I can usually accommodate if you have a tighter timeframe.

What do I need to do to prepare my quilt top for the long arm?

Make sure all seams are secure. Tack down any seams on the outside edges or stay-stitch all around. Cut off all loose threads. Press your quilt top and back. Doing those things will make us both look good.

About the Pricing:

What is your pricing based on?

The quilting itself is based on the size of the quilt and the complexity and density of the design. Edge-to-edge designs start at $0.02 per square inch. More complex or dense designs are priced higher.

How can I estimate how much my quilt will cost

Measure the size of your finished top. Multiply the length and width. It will calculate an estimate for the quilting and binding charges. Prices for optional services are also shown.

Are there other charges besides the quilting?

Thread and set up are included. All other services are itemized so you pay only for what you need. These extra services include things like pressing or seaming the backing, custom design, batting purchase, shipping costs.

Do I provide the batting or do I buy it from you?

I always have a few of my favorite battings available for purchase.  If you prefer You are also welcome for provide your own favorite batting,  just be sure it is at least 2 inches larger than the quilt top on all sides.
